PureTrack FAQ

Why is there not an Android app?
PureTrack.io is a website, so you can use it on any device. To make the website work like an app, you can 'save to your homescreen' on both Android and iOS. See our 'how to install' video for info.
For tracking your location on Android you can use any of supported apps.
We do have an official iOS PureTrack app, however this is a simply a wrapper of the website, and adds a convenient way to use your iPhone as a tracker.
How is PureTrack different to FlightRadar24 or FlightAware?

While PureTrack shows ADSB traffic like FlightRadar24, we also show data from other sources including SPOT, InReach, Cellular trackers, FLARM, OGN and many popular paragliding apps and devices.

Unlike FlightRadar24 and other flight tracking services, PureTrack is not limited to aircraft. You can share and track your vehicle, boat or even people.

How is PureTrack different to SafeSky?

SafeSky is designed to give situational awareness while flying. PureTrack can do that too, but is primarily designed for general safety tracking.

All SafeSky traffic goes to OGN, which displays on PureTrack. So the two work together quite well.

SafeSky is not avialable in all countries, while PureTrack works worldwide. PureTrack also tracks more than just aircraft.

Why do some aircraft appear on another ADSB website but not PureTrack?

PureTrack uses data from three different ADSB systems: airplanes.live, ADSBHub and ADSB.lol. Learn More about our ADSB networks on our ADSB help page.

Each ADSB network has a different set of receivers around the world. So you might be picked up on one network in one location, but not another. That's why we use data from 3 different networks, to get the best possible coverage possible.

You can improve reception in your area by adding your own receiver! Learn More. Or if you already have a receiver, add one of our supported networks to show data on PureTrack.

Why use PureTrack over the Open Glider Network (OGN)?
All OGN traffic is displayed on PureTrack, so it's a really good OGN viewer. PureTrack also combines OGN data with ADSB and cellular tracking data onto the same map, along with your SPOT or Inreach tracker.
If I have multiple trackers, which one does it show?
The last received position from any source is shown. When viewing a track, you'll see all location data from all sources. By tapping on the height chart, you can see what source each individual point came from.
How long is tracking data stored?
Currently we keep all tracking data for a maximum of 3 months, and then it is deleted. This may change in the future. Note OGN data for all users is only available for 24 hours due to their data licence. PureTrack Pro users can access up to 3 months of track data. Non-pro users can access 24 hours of track data.
Can I delete a track?
Generally no, contact us if you need to for some reason. Tracks for non-registered aircraft can be hidden, see below.
How private is the tracking data I send to PureTrack?

For registered aircraft all data sent to PureTrack is public unless specifically marked as private, see our terms of use for more information. We have no way to verify who owns which registered aircraft, and OGN and ADSB data comes from public sources.

For non-registered aircraft (e.g. paragliders, person, vehicles etc) tracks can be made public or private, and last known location can be public or private. Manage this for each map marker from your dashboard.

What does the colour of each item on the map indicate?
Each item on the map is given a random colour, so you can easily keep track of which object is which, even when they move around on the map.
